Rocket Money has three tiers now. The free app, Premium at $7 to $14 a month, and Premium+ at $15 a month. Premium+ is the new one, and it’s built around Rowan, an AI assistant you text like you’d text a friend.
Premium+ costs a few dollars more than the top of the Premium range, and it changes two things. You get Rowan, and Rocket Money stops taking a cut of whatever it saves you on your bills.

Both paid tiers open with a seven-day free trial. Before you start one, the FTC’s guide to free trials and auto-renewals is worth two minutes. Put the end date in your calendar while you’re thinking about it.
In this article, we’ll go through what each tier actually includes, what Rowan does, and when that extra $8 a month pays for itself.
Rocket Money finds the subscriptions you forgot you're paying for and cancels them with one tap, no calls or hold music. It'll also negotiate your phone, internet, and insurance bills down, and you only pay a fee if it actually lowers your bill. Bank-level AES-256 encryption and read-only connections keep your data safe. Try Premium free for 7 days, cancel anytime.

What each Rocket Money tier costs
Three tiers, and the biggest jump between them is not the one most people expect. Here is what each costs before we get to what each does.
Free is $0. Premium uses what Rocket Money calls pay-what-you-think-is-fair pricing: you pick the number, and it typically lands between $7 and $14 a month. Rocket Money says that range is subject to change. It was accurate when we checked on September 15, 2026.
Premium+ is a flat $15 a month. No sliding scale, and Rocket Money bills monthly on every paid tier.

What each tier actually includes
The price gap between the tiers is small. The feature gap is not, and it sits almost entirely between Free and Premium rather than between Premium and Premium+.
What the free tier covers
More than most people expect. You can link your bank accounts, credit cards and loans in one place, see every subscription Rocket Money finds, and read your spending back by category, by payday, or on a calendar. You get a credit score, balance alerts, and the Financial Education Center. Budget categories work, but the number of them is capped on the free version.
What the free version does not do is act. It will show you a subscription you forgot about; it will not cancel subscriptions for you.
What Premium adds
This is the real upgrade, and it is mostly about doing things rather than seeing them:
- Subscription cancellation assistance. Rocket Money will cancel subscriptions on your behalf instead of just pointing at them.
- Unlimited budget categories. The cap on the free tier comes off, and transaction tags, notes, splitting, automated rules and export all switch on.
- Net worth tracking and real-time sync across your linked bank accounts. Free shows you balances; Premium keeps them current and totals them.
- Credit report monitoring. Free gives you a score; Premium adds full credit monitoring on top of it.
- Financial goals and debt paydown, which automate saving instead of reminding you to.
- Desktop, a customizable dashboard, iOS widgets and watch lists. Free is phone-only.
What Premium+ adds on top
Exactly two things, by Rocket Money’s own table: Rowan, and bill negotiation with no success fee. Every other Premium feature is already included at the lower price, so the list of things the extra $8 buys you is short and specific.
What Rowan actually does
Rowan is a text assistant. You ask it questions about your own money in plain language, the way you’d ask a friend who happens to be good with this stuff. What did I spend on groceries last month. Am I still paying for that trial I forgot to cancel.
The part Rocket Money leans on is that Rowan acts on what it finds. It doesn’t just flag a bill you could lower, it goes after it. Rocket Money describes Rowan as a proactive financial concierge that lives in your text messages.
Rowan is Premium+ only. There’s no cut-down version on Free or on Premium, so if you want it, $15 a month is the price of entry.

The bill negotiation fee is the bigger change
This is the part that’s easy to skip past, and for some households it’s a bigger deal than Rowan.
How the success fee works
Rocket Money will contact your provider and try to bring a bill down for you. On Free and on Premium, that service is paid for with a success fee: Rocket Money keeps 35% to 60% of your first year’s savings, and after that first year you keep all of it. On Premium+, there’s no success fee at all.
So the comparison isn’t really $8 a month for an AI assistant. It’s $8 a month for an AI assistant plus whatever that success fee would have cost you on the next bill they get lowered.

Who the $15 tier is for
Four situations where Premium+ adds up:
- You’ve got bills you can actually lower. Internet, phone, cable and insurance are the usual candidates. If Rocket Money lowers even one of them, skipping the success fee can cover the difference on its own.
- You already pay near the top of the Premium range. If your Premium price is set at $14 then Premium+ costs you one more dollar a month. That’s the whole gap!
- You want answers by text, not another dashboard to check. Rowan is built for people who’ll ask a question but won’t open an app to go looking.
- You’ve got a messy month coming. Moving, a new baby, a new job. Those are the months bills drift and subscriptions pile up unnoticed.
If none of those sound like you, Premium at the price you choose does the core job. Hunting subscriptions down, cancelling the ones you don’t want, credit monitoring and spending tracking are all in there.

How to try it without paying
The seven-day trial, and the catch
Both paid tiers start with a seven-day free trial of everything Premium unlocks. It’s one trial per account, so don’t burn it on a week you’re too busy to open the app.
Cancel inside those seven days and you aren’t charged. Rocket Money bills monthly, so if you change your mind in month three there’s no annual plan to unwind.

Not sure which tier you want? Start the trial on Premium and watch what the app turns up in week one. If it finds bills you can bring down, the Premium+ arithmetic gets easy from there.
FAQs
Rocket Money Premium uses pay-what-you-think-is-fair pricing, and the price you choose typically falls between $7 and $14 a month. Rocket Money says that range is subject to change. Premium+ sits above it at a flat $15 a month.
Rowan is an AI financial assistant included with Premium+. You text it questions about your own accounts in plain language, and it acts on what it finds instead of only flagging it. Rowan is not available on the free tier or on Premium.
On the free tier and on Premium, yes. Rocket Money takes a success fee out of whatever it saves you on a negotiated bill. Premium+ removes that success fee, which is one of the two things the higher tier buys you.
Yes. Rocket Money offers a seven-day free trial of the Premium features, and it’s one trial per account. Cancel inside the seven days and you aren’t charged.
It depends on whether you have bills to negotiate. Premium+ adds Rowan and drops the success fee on bill negotiation, so a single lowered bill can change the sum. If your Premium price is already set at $14 then the gap is a single dollar.
