Sorry for the delayed response, my ability to write on message boards was malfunctioning.
Looks like you are with the rest of us fighting this crazy cycle in the market.
The only thing I have had success with is the bitter short pill.
The big losers have been in real estate and insurance.
Last time I checked in with you, you were having some luck, hope you get it back.
    Let me here from you.

As you may already know, I have a new project going on (mentioned in the Washington Post) where I am trying to raise $100k that will allow for

    1) a live trading account

    2) continued benefit for orphans in Ukraine

    3) endow another top Wall Sreet Survivor to trade a live $100k account.

I want to work for it rather than ask for donations so I started a blog where I publish my best stock trading ideas twice daily and I'm asking my WSS buddies to simply visit my blog.  Hopefully you'll click on a Google ad that interests you or use the banner links to make an online Christmas purchase.  When you get a chance, can you visit and help me reach this goal soon?  Thank you!

I really don't know to say this without being seen as brash, but I've always spoken what I believe to be true.  I like Dr. Joe's comments and analyses as well.  When I first started to trade, I visited his website, quite often.  But with all due respect, Dr. Joe and myself are not in the same class.  Dr. Joe still thinks that news and fundamentals influence the markets.  He is wrong.  Another problem I have with Dr. Joe and many other analyses is their lack of conviction in the direction of the markets.   You cannot make money in the stock market by consistently saying that you believe the market is heading in one direction, while at the same time stating that their is an equal possibility that it could be heading in another.

His and many other websites are tailored to be amusing and attract the most visitors, kind of like Kramer.  Their investment strategy is cookie cutter and mainstream.  The stock market is one arena where you never want to be caught in a herd mentality.  The heard is eventually always wrong in the stock market….……Always!  When you come to my page it is best to consider yourself a visitor into the mind of a trader not a market commentator.  I literally say on my page “go short now” with a time stamp.

I consider myself a trader first and foremost my comments on stock chart is an outlet used by self to organize my thoughts.  The adage "You cannot consider yourself a master of anything unless you can teach it" applies here.

It is my belief that the only way to judge how good a trader you are is by how much profits you've made. Why? Because of the answer to the following question.  “How do you know if you’re right in the stock market?”……."When you make money of course".  If you’ve traded your own real money account, I know that you can attest to the fact that trading in real money and using play money are two completely different arenas.

Since May of this year until I sold my positions second set of positions on October 8th my trading account is up 4500% at Options Xpress…. this is fact. To someone that started with $10k in their account such information is worth $460,000.  Ten thousand dollars is a nominal number, there are many investors out there with at least a hundred thousand dollars in their account.  To them such information is worth tens of millions, to Warren Buffet, billions. What is 4500% worth to you?  (As a side note the year is not complete yet, and I have a considerable amount of money in Exxon Mobile puts.  Going forward we will see how that plays out).

Any trader can make money in a bull market, only the best traders who fully understand the dynamics of the market can consistently make money in a bear market.  For example Warren Buffet is a very good trader, and who can argue with the billion’s he’s made over the last few decades.  But he’s made his money in one of the biggest bull markets of our time.  If he continues to trade in the same manner that he has before, that is “buy and hold strategy” he will continue to lose lots of money as he has recently.  Buy and hold strategies only work in bull markets.  While there are a few exceptions that are too complicated to explain at this time, in a bear market the correct strategy is to wait for rallies to come to an end, then enter short positions.

Again thanks for the vote and communication, I wish you the best of luck, in real-life trading of course.

Thanks for the good words Gayola.  I especially appreciate you voting for me on stock charts.  It always amazed me that out of the four or five hundred hits I get a month no one votes for my charts, depsite the fact that my analyses has proved to be extremely accurate over the course of the past year, much more so than the most popular ones posted by other aurthors.
