About me I am a widow of two girls at 40, and I decided to see if there was any magic money with stocks that I could learn. I thought about writing a book: Single, Married, Divorced, Married, Widowed by 40. What do you think, catchy title? I might have a better chance with stocks ;), which is a shame if you look at my ranking :)

hey cynthia, how ya doin, how ya been, whatcha been up to? yeah, you're right, it has been way too long since i've heard from ya. you must not be drinking enough of that love potion. either that or too much, and too early! lol. :) everything is going well for me right now, and i feel like greatness is almost within reach. i love this time year, it's my favorite, which is kinda funny because i have no winter hobbies. it just seems like everything slows down in the winter to a pace that allows me to keep it. winter is the season for the contemplative/meditative personalities of which i am. i decided that rather than joining  a monastery and becoming a monk, i'll just keep doing what i'm doing where i'm at, and i'll pretend that i'm a monk. that way maybe i can experience the best of both worlds. how bout you, how have you been doing? i've decided that the topic for the winter is going to be the history of the computer. it's probably the subject that i'm most ignorant of, and so i guess i can afford to learn something about it. sure is boring though, but not boring enough to put the book down. i'm reading about 6 pages a day, before i have to put it away. as for the economy, i think that everything is going to be okay. my prediction is that next year we'll be trading above 10,000, in two years it'll be above 12,000, and in three years it'll set a new record high. my strategy is to buy in to profitable companies who are trading 25% below their book value, and then selling them when they are trading 25% above their book value. the bad news is that i have lost 50% of my investment doing this. the good news is that i have lost only 50% of my investment doing this. if you need the inspiration of one more person who has it worse than you regarding the retirement thing, here i am. i'm keeping my eyes open for a giant cardboard box, and then i'll throw some sort of giant plastic bag over it to weather proof it. should be good to go!!! i have an awesome family. my awesome sister is a single mother, and lives in a small town in washington state called winthrop, eight miles away from where we grew up. my awesome mother and father have just retired and live in an rv. they are traveling the country right now. they are currently in arkansas, and headed to texas where they'll spend the winter. anything else that you want to know about my family? what about your family, and childhood? if you would rather keep in touch via email then feel free. my email address is peterson515@hotmail.com. drop by any time that you want. i love the company and conversation. i'm not around a computer on wednesdays, often thursdays, and sundays, so don't be offended if i don't reply immediately. i'm just not able to. well, thanks again for the contact, and keep in touch. i hope everything is going good, and if not, then let me in. not like i have all the answers, i don't have any of them, companionship just things better, especially this time of the year. well, have a great day tomorrow, and i'll chat with ya later.

As you may already know, I have a new project going on (mentioned in the Washington Post) where I am trying to raise $100k that will allow for

    1) a live trading account

    2) continued benefit for orphans in Ukraine

    3) endow another top Wall Sreet Survivor to trade a live $100k account.

I want to work for it rather than ask for donations so I started a blog where I publish my best stock trading ideas twice daily and I'm asking my WSS buddies to simply visit my blog.  Hopefully you'll click on a Google ad that interests you or use the banner links to make an online Christmas purchase.  When you get a chance, can you visit and help me reach this goal soon?  Thank you!

time frames depend on strategy. A day trader would use a shorter frame than a positions trader.Price and volume are not indices, you probably mean indicators. They are the foundation to every chart, so all the time.

hey cynthia, how's it all goin? haven't heard from ya fir awhile, watcha been up to? are you dressing up for halloween? well, to answer your question, i've been all stressed out, some sort of mid life crisis or something, but had a break through early this week and i feel marvelous!!! it's a good thing that i had a break through too, cause if this week would have been like last week, i would probably be on my way to joining a monastery or something. i told my sister that if things didn't change by my birthday than that was it, i was just going to become a monk. but now all is well, winter is here, and so it's time to get into that contemplative/meditative/hybernative state of being. get a good a book, put the feet up, turn the heat on, and i'll be seeing you next spring. well, it looks like the market has found great support at 8,000, at it seems that's all it needed. it needed to know whether or not there was any support at all. now that the market is going to begin to rise again, the big question is where are the instutional investors and fund managers going to go with there purchasing power. i can only say that the money is not going to return to the exact the companies it departed. there is going to be some sort of reallocation. well happy halloween, and i hope that all is well with you. cheers!!!

Hi Cynthiamb4, and thank you for those best wishes.  I'll definitely need them.  Neurological NP, thats fascinating.  How long did it take you to become one?  I was thinking of getting a degree in Micro first.  Well, gotta work first for it.

Well good luck with this market.  :)

P.S- And you should go for it. (Writing a book I mean)  I love writing and I have always wanted to write one, but I never finish my projects.  You are a very strong woman it sounds and just the title you mentioned would get people reading it.

one if the things you can also look at is the percentage price is below the 200 day moving average.  For example at the close yesterday on the S&P 500 was over 300 points under the 200 day moving average. this is a sign of a turn a round so I moved all my 401K money into the S&P 500 fund at the close last night but there were a number of reasons why I thought there would be a bounce today. besides where price was in conjunction with the 200 day moving average the S&P index had completed an ABC down on the daily and weekly charts and 960 was the mark on the monthly charts. It was close enough to 960 that I felt it could open lower and then rebund enough to be in a profit by the close. It was slightly risky. I usually like strength and then weakeness and when it turns back up after the weakness get in.  But I thought it was worth the risk. We will see how the market closes today.
