  • Re: Butterfly, bee, wasp, moth and other pollinating insect numbers

In Nebraska this year, I have been watching for pollinating insects closely.  This year I have observed several bumblebees (I'm not sure of the species) but no honey bees so far.  The moths and butterflies are noticeably fewer than in previous years.
  • Butterfly, bee, wasp, moth and other pollinating insect numbers

I am curious to know whether any of you who might garden or farm have noticed any recent changes in the numbers of pollinating insects e.g. bees, wasps, butterflies, moths etc.,... that you are observing outside? Several months ago, I spoke with my Aunt, an avid gardener, and she commented that both she and another relative of ours have observed ...
  • Three Good Things

An elderly gambling man was dying.  Since he had lived a rather unexemplary, irreverent life, his concerned wife summoned her spiritual advisor to counsel with him.  "I want you to do three good things before you die," the spiritual advisor said. "First, forgive all the people against whom you have ever held a ...

Two preschool boys were overheard talking together on the playground. One said to the other: "My dad is a plumber.  What does your dad do?" "Mine is a politician." "Honest?" "No," the child replied.  "Just a regular one."

  • Dinosaur Insomnia

A dinosaur's wife was unable to sleep for several nights in a row. Finally, in desperation, she visited a local sleep clinic.  Everyone was extremely surprised when the 800 ton brontosaurus strolled into the lobby.  A nervous doctor promptly asked her to fill out a heap of paperwork, but it didn't take very long ...

  • Currency Exchange

Once upon a time, a tour bus stopped at a small roadside tourist cafe without advance reservations.  A grinning young man approached the manager and requested that he be allowed to pay for all of their meals on a single ticket. "I am a tour guide and I am escorting a group of very eccentric passengers ...

  • Is Your State Solvent?

I recently read that many state governments are now operating with budget deficits.  Wyoming is one of the states that is able to balance its budget.  (Wyoming has a comparatively small state government and no state income tax.)  Does anyone know of any other states without budget ...
