    Barbara Jones:

Never witnessed Mardi Gras in person but from what I have seen on TV it looks like a fun weekend, but I guess the cold sure would put a damper on things.

Its a lot of fun and its free fun. Some years its nice and warm and we're in shorts. Short season this year but sometimes it has been in March. It always culminates the day before Ash Wednesday. Almost anything goes as long as you're not bothering anyone.

Hi Janet. How are them toes??? I'll give you some Ibroprofen if you need some...lol Take it easy on that foot or them toes will be slow in healing. That's okay that you didn't remember me. I work second shift and some nights I don't login because I am tired. Driving home in the snow is worse than work!!!! I hate to clean lately. It is just my husband and me, he blames everything on the dog! See you tomorrow - goodnight!

thanks for those answers!  I live in Queen Creek AZ, which is east of Phoenix by 45 miles or so.  Oh, you people who live in cold country - I just couldn't deal with that.                                Last night, my computer froze and I couldn't do anything.  I was tired, so I just went to bed.

Hi, Burgess019, we all welcome you to the late night crew, we are growing.

Corky, Bishop, Rosebud, Soileiau, Burgess ,Phsc111, Melany- although we have not heard from her lately, and me.

My nickname is clutch and someday I might explain how I aquired it.

Corky started the late night crew so she is our captain. What do ya'll think, damit Janet for Captain Corky, kind of has a ring to it.

Captain Corky she's our (wo)man!!! Hello to the late night crew.  It' s later for all of you - I think I am the furthest west.

Barbara:  "Clutch"  hmmmm   does it have to do with a car, or were you a bouncer, or a nest of chicken eggs that are going to hatch is called a clutch, I think.  So, perhaps Barbara is our mother hen!

This is getting to be more fun than buying and selling stocks - at least for these last three weeks.

soileau: thanks for the info. I just realized yest. that Lent is upon us - I'm going to have to do some personal discipline to get myself ready to give up all the goodies.  The only really tough thing for me is donuts in the morning with coffee.  It's something to look forward to.  Now it will just be WSS with some toast and tea.. Sob! I am just not ready.

Hello Louisianna gal, and Bishop not clutching anything. I hope damit Janet likes the Captain Corky title it is meant as a complement. Hello everyone else and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to post any stocks that have done well from the start of the contest until now. I only have a few that I started with that have stayed in the green, some fund stock BIF, HTE, CMF,RJA and gold precious metal stock which have currently been going down NEM, GG, ABX.

I was hoping to chat with everyone tonight but I am yawning so I am going to call it a night and check with ya'll tomorrow night.

Well, Rosebud let me give you a quick rundown as to what happens. The season starts on 12th night and ends at midnight Mardi Gras night. The entire season is nothing but fun and food and drink, you know the saying eat, drink and be merry thats us. When its beautiful weather as it was today and tonight with no cancellation of parades its considered a success. The merchant who benefit from Mardi Gras are bakeries (King Cakes), grocery stores, liquor stores, black tie apparel shops, souvenir shops, bars, hotels, restaurants and fast food. More food is cooked for Mardi Gras than there is for Thanksgiving and Christmas. On the Monday before the big day there's not a package of red beans to be found in the grocery stores. Everyone cooks whether its something at home to picnic while on parade route or set up grill, burners, big pots, coolers, etc to supply food to anyone who looks as though they need something to absorb the alcohol. A sandwich or snack will just not do if a person's been drinking all day. Its fun to just even being a spectator but its even more fun to ride upon one of the floats, which I've done so several times. Usually, a person is so loose at the end of the route, you get sober aga as least I always have. You definitely feel no pain. My body is getting older and can only handle so much so I didn't stay for Endymions Extravanga at the Superdome tonight for I'm wiped out. Listening to the rest of it on TV. Mardi Gras is billed as the "Greatest Free Show on Earth" it is. A person can go to a parade with no money and return home with a full belly, drunk and happy. Also we hear the first Mardi Gras music on the radio 26 Decembre. After Katrinas'  devastation in 2005, officials had thought about cancelling Mardi Gras 2006, all the floats were destroyed and there was an utter feeling of hopelessness everyone. Thank God, they didn't cancell for it gave everyone a feeling of hope and Rebirth. It was such a beautiful day that it was hard to believe just a few months previously everything looked bleak.

What you see on the news about one big party and free at that  it is the truth.

As the saying goes "Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler!"
