    Things Republicans Believe

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

"Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

LOL, really LOL...... WOW Jewda, you have really outdone yourself finding all those whimsical things to post. (been psychoanalyzing  Olbermann's (sp?) mind lately?)

Too bad you got the title of the thread wrong. It should be more along the line of ....

What left wingers, msm, and their minions try to convince themselves, and the world, that Republicans believe.

Funny though, one of you better posts. Funniest reaction I have had in a long time.

Good one Jewdakris,   there is  one that could be added.

You have a senator in congress bent on following the constitution named Boehner ( beaner ) , only problem is he thinks the constitution is the Declaration of Independence.

Same question to surveybaby that I had for Niceman,

Which of the above statements, if any, do you NOT agree with?

    Re: Things Republicans Believe

Iceman, Magoo, Surveybob will not ever answer that question.    They do not deny specifics or offer specifics for discussion, only generalities.

Specific denials are too easy to prove wrong as is specific information.

It doesn't matter though, because you could post a specific example that proves each one, that has been on television in action for the whole world to witness,  and they would still deny it.

Too specific Barbie?  When something is specific does that not mean that it is easier to defend or oppose a position?

There are SOME Republicans who will agree with each of those statements and some that will disagree.  Also, there are those individuals, and I believe you identified three of them, who are even further to the right in their beliefs and they will agree with ALL of those statements.

That was my question to those guys.  Are there ANY of those statements that they do NOT agree with.

Ms Magoo, BJ knows not what she talks about. Buy into her if you wish, but as you are new here (LOL) you will decide your own connections.

But how about this Ms., you validate one of the statements, and I will try to debunk one?

You up for that, or do you need others to speak for you?

Bob, I think you missed the point of the original post.  These are beliefs that people hold.  Not facts.  How can you validate a belief or debunk a belief.  They are just opinions.

Besides, if you are going to take sides in this wouldn't you be the one to prove the belief (since you are the right winger) and Msgoo prove that the Republicans belief is false?  How can he/she prove something that she likely does not believe?

    Re: Things Republicans Believe

I think Surveybob has proved my point very well.    He never answers a question asked or anything else, all he ever does is spout some inane sarcastic remark, insult,  or comes back with something like it is you that should do this or that.

There was a time when he would make and a person could actually carry on a discussion about an issue with him, but he had no answers when information was offered that showed a different viewpoint, so he resorted to personal attacks and sarcasm and has never once deviated from that method since.

I expect that is way he freaked out about the no insults rule, because that is all he has to offer to support his veiws.

Give it a try, just ask him any question no matter how simple or non-confrontational it is , and see if you can get an answer, or if he just comes back with some sarcastic remark.

    Re: Things Republicans Believe

Not bad Iceman,  some pretty good replies.

There is one I would most definitely argue with and can prove you wrong and that is on veteran's pay and benefits, all you have to do there is look up voting records,  this year the democrats passed the largest increase for veteran's benefits every to be passed.

Last year voting records on veteran's benefits there were more democrat yeahs and more republican nays.

I remember one bill in specific that was set to increase funding for soldiers in Iraq that the republicans shot down.

As a matter of fact check out McCain's voting record on veteran bills, I did, and found mostly nays or no votes.  I watched a video of McCain on one bill, and he does not believe in PTSD and he voted against funding for veteran's medical care for PTSD.

I am not talking about the bills that had timelines in them for pulling out of Iraq, which was the reason republicans voted no on one  version and and democrats no on another version because of differences about whether or not to set a timeline for withdrawal.

.  .   Just the other bills.

    Re: Things Republicans Believe

barb, you cant prove me wrong on the vet benefits, slick willie signed the bill to the effect that if you had not yet used your va entitlements they would no longer be available. You do not get a bigger cut than the one that draft dodger signed. Another thing that is most likely impossible to find is with the nays, what pork was attached to the bills, as there always is on vet and defense spending bills
