tremendous win by the Twins yesterday in 12 innings.

I am looking forward to seeing how the Dodgers do vs the Cardinals (Cards killed the Dodgers during the regular season).

and also looking forward to the Angels vs. the Red Sox (Angels never beat them in the playoffs, are 0-4 in playoff series)

The Tigers have now one of the biggest collapses in MLB history, but the pitch def hit Inge tht would have forced in a run.  Umpire blew the call.  Greta non-call.  Rayburn, what shame.  A single turned into a triple, but he did gun down that one runner.

Yes, I do feel for the Tigers. But then again, with Michigan having one of the highest unemployment rates, who's going to be able to afford tickets

     on to another topic:

a wonderful win by the Dodgers, with a fantastic rally with 2 outs in the 9th for 2 runs to win it. wow!!!! Glad I hung around to watch it.

    Why did I hang around?

I was waiting for the Angels game to being (lol).

Very happy to see the Angels win game 1. Perhaps this will help propel them to win the series for the first playoff series win ever vs. the Red Sox.

Angels play vs. Josh Beckett tomorrow

Lackey pitched like his former self, Lester got hurt big time by Hunters' 3 run jack.  Man, what a shot.  If Beckett also collapses, the Angels will finish this off quicky, gentlemen.

Beckett didn't collapse; he pitched decently, giving up 4 runs in roughly 7 innings, but Jered Weaver outpitched him.

Angels up 2-0. Boston scores 1 run in 2 games.

    It's on to Boston!

And tomorrow, Dodgers get to close out the series vs. the Cards and Pedro Martinez. Who'd thunk Dodgers might have a chance to sweep!?!?!

on to the Championship round of each league

here's hoping Dodgers and Angels win both series

The Angels have fire power, but not enough to match the Yanks.

LA wil prbly pull it out against the Phillies.  Manny and Kemp and Furcal and Martin will take advantage of all these lefties the Phils have.

An ugly game by the Dodgers today!

Torre left Kershaw in for too long, and the Dodgers pitching relief was just horrific.

let's hope the Angels do better tomorrow, assuming they are not rained out in NY

Utley's ugly errors were worse.  He basically cost the Phillies the game.  The Dodgers got lucky.

Yes, the Dodgers did get lucky, but series is 1-1.

Will be interesting to see how Dodgers respond in Philly

As for the Angels, they made a lousy 3 errors; Chone Figgins does what he does best in the playoffs - which is NOTHING!

He may be making $10M/year next year when he signs a huge free agent contract; but if I am the Angels, I use Kendrick at 2nd, Aybar at SS, and Izutris at 3rd, and use the money to sign Abreu and Guerrero.

Figgins is Mr. May - to borrow a term from Steinbrenner. He's great in the regular season; but the postseasons have treated him horribly

It's looking like the Yankees and possibly the Dodgers in the World Series. Philly doesn't excite me.  I am not a fan of any of them. Of the four , I probably like the Angels the most, but their ship has sailed.  The only reason I would pull for the Dodgers to get in is so Jim Thome can get into the series and DH in the American League parks.

with the Yankees up 2-0 after Angels closer Fuentes couldn't close the game, here's hoping that Scioscia makes changes to the lineup and at least take out Figgins, who finally got a basehit after going 0-19.

How about Izturis at 3rd, Aybar at SS, Kendrick at 2nd, and remove 3rd basemen Figgins. Put Izturis or Aybar as the lead-off hitter. Figgins has done absolutely nothing in the playoffs since 2002.

And Dodgers just got destroyed 11-0 in bottom of 8th inning.

As long as the Angels continue to make mistakes, and that Manny's offensive woes continue, it's a strong possibility that it will be the Yankees and Phillies in the finals.

A-Rod is looking good as the next Mr.October.

Good win by the Angels.  The Dodgers are pretty much done after last night's loss.

Jimmy Rollins might be the one who will be the difference in the World Series.

Agree with Stan that the Dodgers are pretty much done. Oh well.

Angels had a great win yesterday, and quite frankly, should be up 2-1 rather than down 2-1 if closer Fuentes saved game 2. Am hoping Angels win all 3 home games.

The Angels are not looking good right now against the mighty CC.  Kazmir... sigh, that guy is finished.  Losing velocity and his control has gotten even worse.  Reminds me of Daniel Cabrera.

The Yankees are strong, but the Phillies will have the edge when the pitchers have to bat, and they can now add one of their offensive weapons as a DH.  As many of the Yankees starters have played in the National League before, this season, they have not (aside from interleague games).  Like to see how CC will run down to first base, maybe pull a hamstring.

    Re: Baseball Playoffs 2009

both my Angels and Dodgers are down 3-1, and given how they've played, I am not at all heartbroken.

Dodgers closer Broxton, haunted by giving up a game winning 2-run to Matt Stairs in last year's playoffs, turns around and give him the Barry Bonds treatment, as Stairs walks in the 9th inning, an inning that results in Philly scoring 2 runs to win it.

For crying out loud, Broxton should've been throwing strikes. Forget about last year's homer. Heck, in the All Star game home run hitting contests, the players could barely hit homers when they are TRYING to hit homers. Broxton needs to get over it!

As for the Angels, I am hoping we get rid of Vlad, get rid of Chone Figgins (a great player in the regular season; folds in the playoffs), and use that money to re-sign John Lackey and Abreu.

And we need to groom Jepsen to close, and let go of closer Fuentes after next season
