     Pujols is incredible!

and unless he's found of taking steroids, I dare say he's head-and-shoulders above A-Rod, who has had ridiculously horrible playoff years. Last year, he finally broke out of his slump.

Let's see how both do this coming playoffs

lol, the amazing part is that Pujols claim he's not a HR hitter, just a line drive hitter who's gifted by God and who is strong enough to get those line drives over the fence.

Pujols is def the MVP this yr.  No questions asked.

Pujols is definitely a monster.   And even monsters are afraid of him Smile

Barring injuries, he'll definitely be one of the top players of all time.

Ryan Howard is having a good year, and he has a chance to shine in the playoffs.   Had Matt Holiday started the season the way he has been playing since being traded, who know what kind of numbers he would be putting up.  Great protection for Pujols.

For those in the baseball fantasy pools in the playoffs, good luck.  I was out last week, so my season is over.

Matt Holliday now having a great season is due to the fact that he's in the NL.  AL is def a mucher league, and this is another perfect example.

I just don't want Pujols to use performance enhancing crap.  That would be disappointing.

It's sad that Howard started his career at 26 or 27 to set any record.  His defense is actually not that bad as ppl claim.

Ryan Howard has some an incredible first few years in his career.

But remember, Ruben Sierra put up some awesome numbers in his first few years, batting over 0.300, 30+ homers, 100+ RBIs.

Then he got a big fat contract once his 1st contract ran out, and he got FAT, as in ballooning 30-60 pounds.

His performance got so bad that Tony LaRussa called him "the village idiot" when both were with Oakland.

So, it'll be interesting to see how Ryan does once he gets his big fat contract.

Barry Zito is another example. He did well for Oakland; Scott Boras connived Giants to give Zito a $126M contract, and Zito has just a couple more wins than you and I combined.

You hit it right on the button podstock.  Once these guys play for a contract, some would really tank.  Vernon Wells is a great example of one guy who is making outrageous money and now he couldn't live up to the one or two great years prior to signing that big contract.  He's one of the biggest busts who is making outrageous money.  Maybe the White Sox will take him next season as they took Rios.

Alex Rios is another.  And it's not even the guys who has played and had a great year, it's even rookies who has never played and signed for more money than some players who are playing today.

A great example is Brien Taylor who signed a big contract and all he did was fight in a bar, get injured and never played again.  Wasn't Ryan Anderson touted as the next Randy Johnson?

Us Dodgers and Angels fans want to thank the Rockies and Rangers for losing quite a few games in these past 1-2 weeks.

Heck, the Angels just 2 out of 3 to the Yankees this week, and still reduced our magic number by 2 more games.

in fact, on the most recent road trip, one in which we went 3-4 (or was it 2-5), we still came home with a 0.5 game increase, thanks in large part to Oakland sweeping the Rangers at Texas, lol

it's great to know the Angels are heading into the playoffs...only to get steamrolled by the Red Sox.

    lolololol

What may really hurt the Angels is if Kendry Morales doesn't start getting hot again.  Over a month ago, Kendry was hitting like no tomorrow.  Now many of us have to wait until tomorrow to see if he will again.  The last few games were great, but for the last few weeks before that, he was swinging at air.  Still hasn't cracked the 100 rbi's, where almost a month ago, it was a sure lock.  And he was considered a favourite to win MVP, which is history now.

Congrats to the Yankees, who clinched today after a 3-game sweep of the Red Sox

Angels have magic number of 2 over Texas, whom they play in the next 4 days. You'd think the Angels could win 1 of the 4, huh?

And the Dodgers proved they can't handle a team that's had 17 consecutive season losing streaks in Pittsburgh

The Yankees are looking really strong this year, and with many of their starters (hitting and pitching) back, they will be tough.

But when the playoffs come, anything can happen.

Good luck to all teams that make the playoffs.

The Yanks look almost unbeatable at this pt.  But hey, injuries could happen, we never know.  The whole Joba management situation is really stupid.  You're messing up his rhythm.

I found it ironic that they poured beer over Adenhart's jersey after they clinched the division.  Those players... sigh, I know they're celebrating and didn't think, but come on

Yes, the Yanks look unbeatable. Until they play the Angels, who have to get past the Red Sox first.

and yes, it's ironic that the Angels poured beer over Adenhart's jersey.

I can't wait for the playoffs to begin as the season was just too long.  Now it's time to play real ball.

Do you guys play fantasy BB too?

boy, it sure is nice to see my Dodgers backing their way into the playoffs.

lolol -- all they needed is 1 win in the past 7 games.

now, it's 1 win in the next 3 games vs. the Rockies.

this weekend will definitely be interesting.

the Dodgers have already qualified for the wildcard; but boy, if you can win 1 game out of 7, and you're getting shut out left and right by last place teams (Pittsburgh and San Diego), you're gonna be in for a doozy in the playoffs

and no, I don't play fantasy BB

I heard on a talk show, they thought the Dodgers wanted to clinch at home. Or are they losing on purpose to select their opponent?

well, Dodgers are now at home, and down 4-2 in the 7th inning, with Manny striking out 3 times. He came up with bases loaded and struck out.

Not sure about them losing on purpose to get better opponent. The way the Dodgers are playing right now, you and I and 7 other guys on WSS can beat the Dodgers.

tomorrow is the last day of the regular season and really, and it's a doozy!!

Minnesota is now tied for 1st with Detroit (I can't believe they won a game in which Greinke pitched) and it remains to be seen who emerges to take on Yankees

I am rooting for both teams to win, and then we see a 1-game playoff

    Re: Baseball Playoffs 2009

as I had hoped, both Detroit and Minnesota are tied at the end of the regular season, and the 1-game playoff begins on Tuesday to see who gets the "privilege" to lose to the Yankees, lol

I am anxiously awaiting my Angels vs. the Red Sox. We've lost all 4 playoff series against them.

We're pretty healthy. We have homefield advantage.

Let's see if we can't win a series against them, eh?

The Tigers def want to have Verlander to start this game instead of the rookie Porcello, who is avging 1 k every 2 innings.  However, Baker is an avg pitcher, so the Tigers offense might knock him out in 4 IPs.
