    dogs

Used to have a great dane. 2 pounds of hamburger, 6 eggs, vitamines and 5 pounds of dry food a day. Couldn't afford him these days, but he was a very good dog.

I hadGreat Dane myself and they do eat a lot, but that's not so bad it's cleaning up after them that really got to me. You really do need a shovel.

Not only are Great Danes big, but they are very energetic and require a lot of food.  I don't recommend one for a town person.  Have you ever read the comic strip Marmaduke?  There is more truth to the way he runs about than fiction.  LOL!

    "dogs"

I've always wanted one, but there is an ordinance prohibiting the raising of horses in our city. By the way, why do they need to eat meat in the first place? Shouldn't they be fed hay like the rest of their breed.

    I'm so confused.

I have a Great Dane. I also have a Great Pyrenees and a Border Collie mix. Alright, I can see vitamins and an egg every now and then, but 5 Lbs of dog food and 2 Lbs of hamburger! He must of been extremely over weight! I buy 1-40 pound bag every 2 weeks! And all 3 of my dogs are on the heavy side. I'm curious! But why would you feed him 2 Lbs of hamburger? I apologize if I'm sounding rude. I just can't see that amount of food for 1 dog in a day's time. I'm not an expert but I do work with allot of veterinarians -And I know hamburger isn't good for dogs.

I owned a St Bernard and he never ate that much.  I fed him two bowls of food a day, dry mixed with a can of wet and he was just fine.  I own 4 cats now and they would eat all day if I fed them.  I stay to dry food and 4 small cans of wet food a day.  I remove their dishes and they've learned its only at certain time they can eat.
