For the past 25 years, John McCain has consistently voted against women's health. From opposing funding for family planning programs to voting against requiring insurance coverage of birth control, McCain has taken extreme positions. He has voted against women's health and has not supported legislation that would help reduce the rate of unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion.

 I hate the idea of abortion and would never want to have one, but at least take the interest in womens health by supporting birth control. There are so many black babies getting aborted everyday and it's because black people don't have access to the same level of education and they go off and make more babies or get to the point where killing one is as easy as shooting up a liqour store.

 I don't believe him for many reasons, but I do believe he is going to try to institute a draconian ideology regarding womens health.

He lacks conservative fundamentals and he's against women; if Hillary wanted to be president she would show up at the GOP convention and run against Obama.

Totally hear you there, no informed person would bother with McCain that Obama makes Bush look bad by saying McCain is another Bush term; we need another Bush term, at least he would keep our taxes down, this old fart is going to tax the middle class to death.

 I can see someone not voting for JM because he isn't a die hard conservative.( Voting based on princilpes.) He is far from conservative IMO. But I can't agree with anyone who will vote for someone based on gender, color, etc, etc. I remember that during J Carter's (Irish's favorite) run many women saying (both personally, and in the media) they would vote for him because he was handsome/good looking. That worked out well.

From an economic view.......you are correct, taxation further from what we have now would NOT be a good idea......people need MORE money right now, NOT less. I hope, or can only hope that the candidates understand that and see how it is a HUGE issue for the lower and middle classes, who needs their tax burdens reduced instead of increased. Right now, this recession seems to be pretty deep and steep, and from a purely economic standpoint, and other than the rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, we need to have better fiscal policy, which means cut down or kill off all unecessary costs and maintan fair tax levels, or some tax level that can boost the economy from the current downturn that we are in. Whether the candidates understand this or not is the $64,000 question that we as voters face.   

Okay, so he doesn't agree with some of your very liberal ideals.  Poor people have the ability to get birth control right now.  It's not government sponsored but it is available.  All is needed is the poor (you said black) to appraise themselves of it.  And even then,are you sure this birth control would be used?  From discussions of my students, many of these underage girls getting pregnant is not that they are unaware of BC but choose not to use it.  It is sad, but when you have grandmothers who are capable and in some cases still producing children of their own, it is not Democrat or Republican values that are the problem and they won't be the solution.

I don't think I would normally vote for Obama but McCain has bad presentation and don't think he would be as brilliant as Bush. Like Bush was charming and I'm sure he was mis pronouncing things on purpose so the dummy liberal elite would latch onto that. Great distraction technique; part of the 48 laws of power...to like make your enemies under estimate you; but if you know Texas and how he worked as a politician you knew he was good at what he does. Can't say I ever believed a word McCain ever said and even if Obama has far left ideas he wont be able to pass them in the houses all he has to do is be a black president and make sure to keep the balance of power in the supreme court normal so if we needed to we could kill a baby.

Sarah, I respect your opinion, but you are dead wrong on Obama not being able to get a lot of his agenda passed. If he has a democratic house and senate which is almost a slam dunk, what's to stop him. You must be thiinking some of the blue dog democrats will align themselves with republicans.  That's the only way it won't happen.

From what I hear from women who continue to have babies in spite of birth control is that they get more money from the government.  For some, thats all they have children for.  No wonder so many of growning up committing crimes.  There is no love in the family or no family at all.  Thats very sad!  When people continue to have children when they cannot afford them, DFACS should insist they have the yearly shot to keep them from getting pregnanat before they give them any more freebies like money, food stamps, free housing, etc.  There are real people out there in need of help and they don't get it because of the ones using the system.

From what you hear, or what is provably, demonstrably, objectively true? Those are some pretty sweeping generalizations. I dunno, would you prefer public policy to be based on innuendo, xenophobia and racism, or based on solid statistics?

I don't have statistics to offer at this time, but just some food for thought, on the theme that when the economy is down, people (no matter where) resort to tribalism and fear of 'the other' getting ahead, or getting something injustly, and turning that into fearmongering and hate. They used to say the same sorts of things about the Jews, and then the Irish, and then the Chinese, and they're still saying it about African-Americans.
