Analysis of High Yield Stock That Have Potential Upward Movement in Near Future

(Some those included are Mutual Funds, the general have less volatility, which can be positive or a negative.)I used the following criteria to select the stocks I was going to watch:

      1.  Dividend yield 4% or higher.

      2.  Ex-Dividend date 6/10/08 or 06/11/08 (I will explain why I used these dates later).  3.  Last trade price $50.00 or less.  4.  Average daily volume (over the last three months) greater than 100,000 shares.  5.  Relative Strength Index (RSI) less than 45.  6 .  Money Funds Index (MFI) less than 45. (If either is below 45, but higher confidence with both below 45.)  7.  No detrimental news stories in the past 2 weeks. Definition of RSI: A trend line that gets data from a 14-day moving average up to 14-day moving average down.  RSI=100-(100/(1+up average/down average).  You don’t have to use 14-day, some use 9-day and some use 25-day, your choice.Definition of MFI:  A trend line that data from average positive price time volume (positive money flow) or negative price times volume (negative money flow), then the positive money flow divided by negative money flow, which gives you money flow ratio, then MFI=100/(1+Momey Ratio). As a security nears or passes 30 in RSI or MFI, it indicates an oversold security.  As a security nears or passes 70, it indicates an overbought security.  Both have strengths and weaknesses, so I uses both and then check where the security is in the Bollinger Bands and recent news about the security.

Sorry couldn't get table to display correctly.

Can't get table to display correctly...sorry.   You will notice a lot of banking and/or real estate business, both currently I ignore what sector the stock or mutual fund is in.

According to my criteria I will be watching ALD, ACAS, WWE, STL, FPTB, DRH, FHN, DSM, USBI, and CIM.  RWF and PWOD were not chosen due to too little Average Daily Volume (3 months of data).

The following have no recent negative news statements: ALD, ACAS, WWE, STL, FPTB, DRH, FHN (news is debatable whether it negative or neutral), DSM, USBI, and CIM.

My plan is buy a couple of these stocks hold them until the ex-dividend date and then place a limit order to sell at 3% above the purchase price.  The 3% profit plus the value of the dividend should make a nice profit.  I am protected by the amount of the dividend if the stock moves down.  The shorter the time I hold the stock, the higher rate of return.Best wishes in stock hunting,Oldheart
