Tech stocks have me 18k in the red. Be careful they are really volatile this year and would have made fantastic short trades.

I feel your pain. As they said hind sight is 20/20. However, there is still time to turn it around. Granted some tech stocks are going down, but others are going up. Your RIMM company is going into the right direction. But there are plenty more. I could list a whole bunch, but would anybody listen?

Dell seems to be steadily climbing at the moment.

Activision after it's aquisition of Blizzard is also climbing steadyish

Electronic Arts had a big plunge yesterday after it failed in it's bid to take over Take Two Studios but started a recovery today. Gained around $0.66.  I would look into EA as it has a huge MMO to be released next quarter WAR.  Once WAR is released I feel it will take a dip as sales won't meet the markets expectations but once the market corrects itself it should start climbing again.

I would also look into Tech parts suppliers like semi conductor manufactures

 I watch only a few tech stocks because they ain't really been a favorite of Wall Street since the Y2K bubble burst. Cisco, Intel, Texas Instruments, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Yahoo!, and a couple of others. Mostly, I keep an eye on the Philadelphia Semi Idx (SOXX or ^SOX, the idx ticker differs on different quote sites). Watching the sector thru the idx and scalp or swing is about the only advice I'd type. Altho, I might be willing to hold long term because, probably, they'll pay better than keeping $$$ in the bank.

I don't know how long you'll have to wait to see real profit but Metal Storm looks like it's coming through with some impressive (and practical) new defense technologies. I doubt that the war is going to end anytime soon so defense-tech stocks might be worth looking into. Just make sure their claims aren't too crazy or "drawing board" stage.

(Yes, I bought some  MTSX! just in game though.) 

Apple is looking pretty good again. Although they may be peaking soon... I think they're bound to go below 150 before they hit 200. It's just not the right kind of market for them to be doing well.
