Sharebuilder will cost you $4 per buy trade on Tuesdays, and $10 per trade any other day. Sharebuilder will also charge you $10 per trade to sell on any day. Save up around $500 before making your first stock trade and see how eager you are to gamble your hard-earned savings then, kid. You could buy a new Xbox with that kind of money :-)

Wait until the market is down over 100 points , then buy . Never buy when the market is up because at the end of the day people take their profits and that brings the stock down . Think about it really hard , are you willing to lose over half of what you invest , it could and dose happen . will you be able to handle that and wait for it to go back up . The best could happen too but do not count on that , be ready for anything !

I want to trade for real, but I don't have much money saved up myself. But it's awesome that you and I are both starting out young.

If you don't have much money right now, then save up money bit by bit and practice online in the meantime.

If you like trading on the technicals, Sharebuilder sucks for that. But I suck at technical analysis anyway, so I don't care. BTW, I bought FUN a couple of weeks ago at $6.60, and it's now trading at $8. Anybody else having FUN yet, lol?

I only suggested sharebuilder as a way to make small purchases to add up.If anyone knows of any other broker that lets you invest small amounts i'll be listening.Yes , I agree of the costs at sharebuilder.and after checking other brokers it was pretty much the same with in and out trades added up.I started with an initial investment of $100 there.and added to it for about a year.--------------------------The worst part is at 16 you'll end up being in a part of a custodial account .Good luck anyway.--------------OH and investing rule #1.ONLY invest money you can afford to lose in case the market turns against you or you make the wrong trades.Investing rule #2,do your research, that investing tip of a HOT trade may not be from someone informed or worse yet someone with an ulterior motive as to try and help their positions improve whether as a broker(they make money no matter which way your trades move) or an investor to have their holdings improve.----------------Right now I trade options in Real$.

LOL, at 16, he probably still lives with his parents and doesn't own a car, therefore, all of his money is getting blown on girls, pizzas, and video games anyway, without a concern for the monthly bills. That's actually a great time of life to try your hand at investing... before you really do have to worry about losing your money on a bad bet.

I don't think you can open a brokerage account under your own name until you are of age? I know up in Canada it is 19...

I just signed up for Sogotrade, $3 per trade with a minimum investment of $500. My first recommendation is to research, research reseach, and learn, learn, learn, while you save up. Built your strategy and learn to risk management before going full swing, its good that your looking into this at such a young age, your already a step ahead of most. Good luck

There's no minimum balance requirement at Sharebuilder, so they're a better site for small investment accounts.

I also mentioned Sharebuilder because of the fact you can invest any amount with no minimum.

I'd say stick with the investments listed above. 1) You're too young to be playing the market for real. 2) You don't have enough resources to play the game. 3) You have other expenses right now.

I greatfully admire your interest in the market and wish more young people cared about their finances. But for now, it is best for you to play with fantasy accounts and have fun with the money you have. Don't forget to save some for a car, college, etc.!
