With the release of Windows 7, do you see their stock being affected? Positively? Negatively? Are businesses going to convert or will they cling to XP until they are forced to change? A lot of people I've asked say their offices still use XP.

 I think that Windows 7 will certainly have a positive effect on MSFT, esp. since Vista was just horrible.

but, in this economic environment, why upgrade when you don't have to?

people just don't have the money they used to, as the government has stolen everything.

The upgrade should be cheaper for everyone, not just students. Vista has received a lot of bad press, and a lot of it undeserved, but Microsoft could capitalize on a lot of public favoritism by not making this one so expensive.

I'm waiting to see how Apple commercials portray 7. 

It will have a slight positive impact imho.  Big reason is that vista premium users upgrade free, new computers will already be shipped with windows 7, and of course illegal copies and activation hacks will be detramental.  Windows 7 is a great OS and I am using it right now.

 while I am a happy PC user, I LOVE Apple ads.

and the newest one is where both characters morph backwards in time, as the PC guy keeps re-assuring the Mac guy that Windows 7 will be better than Vista.... that Vista is better than XP.... that XP is better than ME...etc. etc.

DONOT BASE IT OFF THE TRAGET 

Microsoft's stock should be going up with the release of Microsoft 7 but due to poor economic conditions people won't run out to pay a bunch of money for a new opperating system they don't need. Microsoft XP was good enough for most people and will most likely be used instead of Vista or even Windows 7 since people don't want to spend the extra money.
