Funny, on this NFL thread we are actually talking about the Raiders.

LOL.  I agree.  But I guess it's better than talking about the Cleveland Browns Smile  They are so desperate that they talked about LeBron on their team.  Just stick with football players Cleveland, we all saw what happened when Jordan tried out for baseball.

Now the battle of the lows between the Browns and Lions.  A great ratings booster for any network.

a good game for Thursday on the NFL Network between the Dolphins and Panthers -- Ricky Williams is certainly making the most of his second and third chances in the NFL, huh? Had a great game

Right now it's about the backup RBs.  Williams, Betts, Norwood, Johnson, Coles, Moats.....

No one would have guessed that these guys would be the RBs that everyone wants on their starting fantasy football team.

These guys have been great filling in for the starters who are either injured or out for the season.

lol I know what you mean, Stan.  I have always liked Moats and Betts.  Portis is way overrated... every time he goes down Betts performs admirably... when Betts signed the extension he thoguht he was gonna be the starter but he nvr demanded a trade or anything and just keeps on playing.  Both Slaton and Forte have been disappointments... they both got up on the odometer way too fast last yr.

    Re: NFL

Unfortunately, the Betts train is derailed as he was injured and left the game.  That was one ugly game between Washington and Dallas.  Tony Romo better get his offense in gear or it's over for Dallas.  I used to think that Dallas had the offense rolling with the way he and Austin connected.  But if Romo will only throw often to Austin near the end of the game (under 50 total yards receiving by Austin), why bother.  Still a win is a win, but Dallas is getting pretty lucky the last few games with ugly wins.  I wonder if it's time to drop Austin in favour of Crayton or Williams.

    Re: NFL

Well, if Dallas had lost that game, the blame would have been on Williams.  The guy is so soft that he is afarid of coming down with the big grabs in heavy traffic.  As a #1 WR, it's what you do.  Williams does not understand that.

Betts... sigh.  Yep, he's on IR and done for the yr.  The Skins are down to their 3rd stringer Cartwright.

It's hard to tell who the go-to-guy is for the Cowboys.  Is is Austin one game, then Williams the next, and then Crayton the game after that.  Romo better start remembering how to win again or it's over for Dallas.  And it was three weeks ago when I thought Dallas had turned it around.

    Re: NFL

I share the same sentiments regarding Dallas turning it around a few weeks ago.

I'd never thought that Dallas would score 7 points and do so in the 4th quarter and barely squeak by with a victory.

Romo is an interesting study ---- he does a great job improvising when the play breaks down; but he's not nearly as good on a "regular" play.

You'd think that by now, Romo would be improving as a QB, not going through the ups and downs that a rookie, a la Mark Sanchez, goes through

I am surprised they cannot "coach him up" better than that after this many years.

I think that Romo will have a great game tomorrow vs. the Raiders --- if you can't beat the Raiders, who can you beat?

but then again, ask the Bengals

    lol

    Re: NFL

Perhaps Jessica Simpson really has a Romo voodoo doll which is affecting his play.  Her or maybe T.O. has one as well.

Playing Oakland is a good test to see if they will fall like the Bengals, or come away with a good win.

I wonder if we have finally seen the last of Austin's TDs and yardage streak.  We haven't seen much from him since the three games where he went crazy with TDs and great yardage.

    Re: NFL

Just as I benched Austin in favour of Ochocinco, Austin finally scored a TD and caught 140 plus yards.  It's all about Karma.  Talk about how bad Austin may do, and he just burned my team.  Too bad you can't get points from the bench.

Oh well.  Good win by the Cowboys over the "ahem" Raiders.

I can't believe how badly the Giants performed tonight. I had them picked to easily win over the slumping Broncos.

heck, with the way the Giants play, 22 guys from this website could form a team and beat them

That was a nice, easy win for the Cowboys. Raiders barely showed up.

3 lopsided games for Thur. I hope they do better next year.

    Re: NFL

The NFL needs to rotate Thanksgiving games.  Every year watching the Lions getting slaughtered and watching the 'Boys getting an easy victory are not fun.  The Giants-Broncos game was supposed to be a good one, but it was not even close.  The Giants are finished for this season.

Matt "My shoulders hurt" Stafford is not ready for prime time.  Not even close.  4 more picks.  It seems like he and Sanchez are competing for the record of most picks by a rookie QB.

    Re: NFL

I guess for Stafford and Sanchez, by throwing all those INTs, it's the only way that they will make it to the record books.  It will be back to the bench for Sanchez next season once Pennington returns.  And Stafford has the potential to lead the Lions to at least 2 wins a season.  The season is over for the Lions, so I didn't understand why not just put in Caulpepper and rest Stafford for one game (protect his arm for the future).  And I agree that the NFL really needs to stop putting the Lions on the Thanksgiving games.  I guess whoever plays the Lions really would be thankful and buy a turkey for the commissioner for giving them those easy Thanksgiving wins against the Lions.

It's just embarassing to watch the Lions on Thanksgiving.  For people like some of the women in my family who do not follow football to watch a game like that will not generate buzz for them to continue watching.

    Re: NFL

I don't see why the NFL insist on having the Lions on Thanksgiving all the time.

When did they last reach the playoffs? Probably right around Barry Sanders time, I would guess.

I know it's tradition to have the Lions and Cowboys on during Thanksgiving; but how about starting a tradition where you put 2 teams in contention for that year on Thanksgiving.

for example, going into 2009, we knew Colts and Steelers would contend...so put them both on Thanksgiving
