    EEK!

    I been slacking!

    **looks over the answers given**

Nope, don't see the correct one yet, so I'll add to the clues:

As a Fortune 500 company, this chain boasts almost 5,000 locations and over 100,000 employees! Not bad for starting out as a single store in Pennsylvania, huh?

In the late 1900's they merged with another company, who are better known by their 3 letter name, thus expanding their empire. When the 2000's hit, they began to lose money in court and in stocks value. They held our own though, merging with yet another company and straightening out their books and procedures.

In the early 2000's they were a hot topic in the news. Scorching debates with union workers still smolder to this day.

Many might find their ticker symbol really cool, but in a more subtle way. as opposed to extreme or awesome.

They will have nothing more to do with Las Vegas, since it's a non-core market for the company that has not been contributing to overall results.

    Who am I talking about?

ACE?  I stress the question mark as it does not fit some of the clues but does others.

That ticker symbol is a LOT easier to type in than "really cool, but in a more subtle way, as opposed to extreme or awesome".

I hope you don't mind, but this one is actually MUCH easier than the rest. Plus it's in the old style:

You use me when you buy or sell stocks.

You use me when you get groceries.

You use me when you hunt down a movie.

You use me when you are curious.

You use me even when you aren't trying to.

    What am I?

I'm afraid Dr Z has done it again! Although there are TONS of neural 'nets' that are 'inter' the brain (ok, a stretch on words for a bad pun, lol!)

Here's one that will  cause a lot of chaos:

Jumping into my time machine one day I found myself flipping switches and dialing knobs randomly. I soon found myself in Pennsylvania in the later parts of the 1700's.

The people I found myself surounded by were an elite group of individuals. They never noticed me, for they were desperately involved with their meeting, and let me tell you the topic was a hot one! (Apparently this was their first meeting because they first began electing members to different positions within the group. Later, when I got back to the present, I discovered these people had started a trend that continued on over a hundred more times!)

After they were finished with their voting, they moved on to the main topic I mentioned a moment ago. These fifty-six members were discussing the mistreatment of the people. It seems the land where they had all come from still had some idea they were still in charge. Suggestions and plans were made to change this, but it had no effect. A war ensued the following year.

    Who could this group be?

Re: How smart are YOU? Let's find out...

The First Continental Congress was a convention of delegates from twelve of the thirteen North American colonies that met on September 5, 1774, at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, early in the American Revolution. Called in response to the passage of the Coercive Acts (also known as Intolerable Acts by the Colonial Americans) by the British Parliament, the Congress was attended by 56 members appointed by the legislatures of twelve of the Thirteen Colonies, the exception being the Province of Georgia, which did not send delegates. The Congress met briefly to consider options, including an economic boycott of British trade; publish a list of rights and grievances; and petition King George for redress of those grievances.

The Congress also called for another Continental Congress in the event that their petition was unsuccessful in halting enforcement of the Intolerable Acts. Their appeal to the Crown had no effect, and so the Second Continental Congress was convened the following year to organize the defense of the colonies at the onset of the American Revolutionary War. The delegates also urged each colony to set up and train its own militia.
