I used to trade the penny stocks when I first started back in 1999-2003, albeit with very slight success, and definitely not worth the stress.

But, in the past 2-3 years, with the massive decline, and lack of credit, etc., I stopped trading penny stocks.

Penny stocks are stuff you play when in a bull market. These companies depend on borrowing money, as they have very little assets (unlike MSFT, which has billions in cash). And in this environment, they're not going to get cash, so, they issue BILLIONS in stock, which dilutes the stock.

once we get out of this recession/depression, I'll be back into the penny stocks

    Yes

    thank you very much Podstock.

It all comes down to what can you afford to lose if the position totally tanks.IdeaIf i spend $20 a week on lottery and instead save this up over a couple of months , I think it would be a better chance of some return vs. the lottery results I've enjoyed so far.Paradise

I used to be with Etrade from 1999-2006 or 2007....

then I switched to TD Ameritrade after ETrade revealed their huge losses from the mortgage debacle (who knew the brokerage was also into mortgages??)

    and I LOVE TD Ameritrade.

lower commissions costs, more stable a company, great trading platform, and NO inactivity fees.
