Do any forum visitors have any favorite new solar technology companies?  What are their stock symbols and why would you recommend them?

Here's a good speculative buy on a company that I've been following and actually have owned a few shares of for over six- months in real life, Mirth. BSRC,a penny stock that for once may be on the verge of taking offf....well, at least thats what i'm hoping.

I will definitely watch fslr as well.

FSLR is one of my favorite solar stocks but you gotta stick with it when it's down. I get really disgusted when it loses 10 to 15 dollars in a day, but it can come back same amount the very next day if you hold on.

Anyone got ideas what are good renewable energy source companies located in silicon valley?

FSLR has been "Best of Breed" for a while because of it's ability to produce at a much lower cost than the competition but as with all technology, advances are in progress. LDK is out running FSLR in lowering production costs at this moment. The stock recently took a dip with an issuance of additional shares to help finance a new production facility in China. This could be a good time to start building a position in this new industry leader. This is an investment to be held long.

also have & plan to stay with halliburton as well as a few good defense stocks like lockheed & boing

I have been playing with SPWRA (SunPower Corp.) It hit it's 52-week low last week and has almost doubled since. It's pretty volatile, but I guess all solar stocks are that way.

Reewable energy is a must for the future. All legit companies should do well. The question will be who is in for a quick profiet and who is real.  I'll be watching

 YGE is not too new, but I like them

it's a reasonable good China play with high beta

 FSLR is great for the day trader.  It is a solid company but recently has had lots of volatility so it is great for short term trades in this market.  You can be short or long, if you are patient, you can make money!  Good luck and lets all drink a beer!

LDK is a longtime fav of mine but got beat up bad today when they made the mistake of reporting that their quarterly earnings had doubled.

FSLR is also a great company, they are also a great pick. They recently announced a new survival strategy of entering the installation business.

I know I did well with STP late last year into early this year. It's on my list of companies to look back into if I ever find the time. I still have it in my permanent portfolio from earlier this year (bought at$50-odd, which was low for the time), and it's been under $10 lately. Should get on that and figure out whether I should be picking it up for a song or resisting temptation...
