I really didnt think the Red Sox would get rid of him.  Good move for the Dodgers.  They just may get by the D Backs now.  Its going to b funny to see Joe Torre managing Manny with the whole Yankees Red Sox history.

I really hope Bay is up to fill those shoes,

I would have bet alot of money 2 days ago that the Red Sox were going to just keep Manny, I don't think it was a good trade for Red Sox Nation.

I think the red sox will do fine without Manny....he was only 1 man on the team after all.  they saved themselves a lot of money in the long run, and Bay should be pretty productive in a solid lineup like the red sox have.

And on the other hand, the buccos are being the buccos....traded nady and bay, they're 2 best guys, for prospects.  Every year for the last 5 or 6  years, the buccos have traded away all of their best guys for prospects....and probably 5% of those prospects every make it to even AAA let alone the bigs.

those prospects in the trade are actually MLB ready players...  as for manny, his .300+ BA, 30+ HR and 100+ RBIs per year will be greatly missed. i think manny was one of the most misunderstood players in baseball. he was my favorite player because of his carefree and fun attitude. the fact that he was just playin some ball was great. baseball needs people who are having a good time out there and not getting too serious. that said, when he started doggin to first base, i suspected things had gotten personal. i'll miss manny and his antics and while im pissed with sox management, they're still the sox. they're still wicked good with the best fans in baseball, and theres no single player that will make any sox fan jump ship.

The Mets benefited from one of those trades in getting Ollie Perez... although they gave up Nady in hte first place to get him.

Yes, Manny Ramirez was my favorite Sox player also. From the first day he joined the Sox. His free-spirited attitude, along with being one of the most feared hitters in the game will be missed. Yet, your right Jewdakris, when he jogged to first-base at times, it mad me upset. Though, I'm sure Manny didn't see it this way, but, When your not hustling like everyone else has to. it sends a slightly arrogant signal to the rest of the team that intimates "I can get away with not husltling" where you would be benched for doing the same.

Anyhow, looking forward to seeing thi guy Jason Bay. I don't follow the National league very much and only know him from what 've read in the papers.

    carpe Diem.!!

jason bay is a very good player the sox will do well with him. he is a much better defensive player than manny. he will do fine in fenway. nice pick up for the sox.

Misunderstood, that is one way of looking at it. Great player, but I don't think misunderstood.

He is a good player. He also seems like the type of player that even though he doesn't have the overall talent of Ramirez, you don't have to worry about him giving 100% every single day. I'll take that kind of player over the prima donna player every day of the week. That's why the Twins have been so successful with a minuscule payroll.

"That's why the Twins have been so successful with a minuscule payroll"

define success... i define it by making it deep into the playoffs or winning a championship. the twins' last world series title was in 1991. manny was a fantastic player and through all his bs he still performed extremely well in the clutch. he was perhaps one of the best players in baseball in the clutch. no matter how you slice it, the sox are hurting from this loss. i'd rather have a prima donna who wins ballgames than a player who tries hard and may or may not succeed.

That last sentence of your comment is the difference between you and I.
