THIS IS REALLY GOOD AND OH SO TRUE.  I RECEIVED A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD WHEN I CHANGED MY NAME BACK IN THE EARLY 70'S.  I HAD IT LAMINATED TO KEEP IT SAFE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD HOLD UP BETTER.  LAST YEAR I WENT TO GET MY DRIVERS LICENSE AND THEY TOLD ME MY CARD IS NOT VALID BECAUSE IT'S LAMINATED SO I HAVE TO GET A NEW ONE.  I SAID YOU ARE KIDDING ME AND THEY SAID NO AND I BETTER STRAIGHTEN IT OUT.  SO I HAD TO DIG MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE OUT AND I'M GOING TO HAVE TO GO TO A SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE AND HAVE A NEW ONE ISSUED.  IT'S THE CRAZIEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD OF.  WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE UNITED STATES THIS SEEMS RIDICULOUS TO ME. I'VE USED THIS CARD MY ENTIRE WORKING LIFE AND IT'S THE SAME NUMBER IT ALWAYS WAS.  CAN YOU IMAGINE?  I'M SURE THERE ARE A LOT OF STORIES LIKE THIS.

ZIRA, YOU ARE RIGHT THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB BUT IT DOES GET FRUSTRATING FOR THE AMERICAN PUBLIC.  I THINK I'M GOING NEXT WEEK TO THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE TO STRAIGHTEN MY CARD OUT AND GET A NEW ONE.  HOPEFULLY IT WON'T TAKE TOO LONG.  I HOPE IT'S NOT AN ALL DAY EVENT.  I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.

With the federal government Im sure its going to take you 3 hours to fill out one form to get up to the desk and tell you you forgot to fill in one part send you back to end of the line to finallly get up there again.

I had this happen to me I got was getting my permit some years ago, I went filled out h paper got up to the line and was told I needed to sign it and they sent me to the end of the line instead of letting me sign the darn thing right there.  Oh I was not happy.

I never understood why they don't want people to laminate their soc sec cards...

It is not illegal to laminate but it is frowned upon. The SS Administration produces cards that are difficult to reproduce because of hidden security features and special paper. Laminating makes it hard if not impossible to detect whether a card is legit. Employers may also refuse to accept a laminated card. The law says you have to verify the authenticity of the card before a potential candidate can be hired. I for one don't have a problem with it if it keeps a bunch of dirty muslim bastards from taking flying lessons.

 Here's the problem in a nut shell. You have to consider that government employees are educated in a school system that teachs very little, makes all kinds of excuses for those that are really stupid like ADD, ADHD and other alphabet soup problems and penalizes those that exhibit any intelligence.

Now when these kids become young adults they get a piece of paper that states that they have some intelligence, but in reality it's just a means to humor the RETARDS.

Now McDonalds and Burger King can hire only so many of these RETARDS, so the government had to get creative so as not to expand the welfare programs for these RETARDS.

So some brain fart genius in congress came up with a plan, which consisted of creating a hugh bureauracy and paper work to create jobs for those RETARDS. Now you might wonder why, after all this is your tax dollars and why should you pay for all this crap and support the RETARDS that live better then you do.

Well the answer is look at who is your Congressman and Senator, who know very well that it is easier to manipulate a RETARD then a thinking person. They know that there are 100 RETARDS for every thinking person.

Now if you think I'm wrong please before to comment go down to your local supermarket and look at the check out line and see how many people are reading the Enquire, Star and gossip magazines for there information. Then go to your polling place on election day and you'll see who's voting for the RETARDS in congress

I wouldn't say it is just their job. I would say it is a measly task designated to the lowly work force to give them something to do so fewer people are collecting unemployment and more of them are making minimum wage.  Is it worth it ?- depends which side of the desk you are on. Maybe I should have the IRS find a bunch of documents before I am willing to pay them?? I would lose wouldn't I? Is there no forum for peaceful protest??? AHA! WSS
