What Happens To Sirius and XM Stock Symbols If/When They Merge?

I am schooling myself in the Stock Market using WSS and I am wondering what happens to the individual stocks, and the owners of these stocks if there is a merger...do XM owners get the same amount of shares as a sirius owner? Use these two fictional individuals as an example; Harry Paratestes owns 2500 shares of SIRI and Ivana Liqualodapus owns 2500 shares of XM, what happens to their respective shares if a merge occurs?

Having survived (LOL!) a merger or two, if they do actually merge (I avoided buying SIRI for a long time when the possibility came up months and months ago), if the symbol no longer exists except in your portfolio, then you write to WSS and they will settle your portfolio for the last public price of that stock. I could be wrong, but I have not heard of the game exchanging stock in the case of mergers.
