I think our military in Iraq should be getting fuel for free.

2nd that motion. We should be able to receive some permanent monetary benefit from all  the sacrifice of our boys and girls plus the US $ spent on their behalf.

that would make sense....after all....iraq is now pumping much more oil than they could years ago....so they are making all this extra money...and we are spending all this extra money....doesn't quite make sense.

Why don't we let the goverment just take over and tell: Where, when, and how long we can sleep; What, how much, when to eat; Tell us where and when to work ( or play). Then call this nation USC ( united states of communisum ).  NOT!!!!!

American soldiers lose lives too, plus iraqi suicide bombers are doing damaged to their own people as we are.

Thank you and your brother for serving and thank you for posting. I am very interested in hearing from soldiers who really know what is going on, as I never know when what the media reports is the truth or a lie. I have been told by the parents of some soldiers that their boys have told them, that they have never done anything yet in Iraq except guard the oil, and they believe that the war is really more about oil than fighting terrorism.  Would you say they are misguided, or that there is any truth to their statements ?

Nah, they need the money to bail-out Fannie and Freddy, or maybe they will just raise income tax to do that. I read that between the two of them covers 5 trillion of our nation's debt.

It is criminal how our government spends the taxpayers money. We should have the right to file charges for this injustice. The majority of them have no clue what the average American must endure on a daily basis.

I agree with you on this. I have been researching government spending for several months. Some of the environmental and research spending is ridiculous.  The government spent over 25 million on government owned property they lease to ranchers to poison gophers that were competing with cattle for the grass and during the very same time period spent over 25 million to breed and reintroduce ferrits that feed off of the gophers in the same area they were poisoning.  So when the ferrits eat the gophers they get poisoned also, and when the gophers are killed off then there is no food source for the ferrits.

It is also a fairly common practice for big corporations that have hazardous chemical pollution problems to declare bankruptcy to avoid the clean-up costs, and then after the governemnt has used tax money to do the clean-up they re-open the plants.

Social spending also needs an overhaul, so that people who are capable of working, or are just drunks or drug-addicts can't draw welfare and live off of or buy drugs with tax money.

Barbara, that is a funny, but extremely sad and common story. And just think what that $25M could have been used for.
