    Making My own contest

Not sure if I can make it onto the overall leaderboard but so far i'm second in my home state of Montana, goin for number one baby!!!

Spose it can't hurt setting small goals and taking the steps it takes to achieve them either though.

I think that is a great goal!  I know I am not ready to win the big contest, but setting smaller goals for myself in a real incentive to me.  Good Luck!

within a few hundred dollars right now, shorting the airlines picked me up quite a bit, been a crazy couple weeks but when I move up a few thousand on a day like the market had today it really helps me feel like i'm doing the correct research and making the right moves.

My overall ranking is 4281 right now.  But when I want to make myself feel better,I check the rankings for Trader - US - Arizona.  By that measure, I'm in 8th place!  Woo hoo!!  And I'm over $100,000 (OK $36 over - it still counts, though).

Greatest state in the Union as far as i'm concerned, one of the few places left it's still socially acceptable to have a gun hanging in the back window of your vehicle.

DualStangs - I'm so glad you mentioned checking out your own state.  I checked the standings for those playing in my state and found out that I am No. 8 in the great state of Ohio, and only need $11,000 to overtake the player that is in first place in Ohio.  That does sound a lot better than 573, although I am very happy with my 573.

And by the way, I think anything over $100,000 is a winning portfolio.  There are almost 9,000 players behind you that are probably not over $100,000, and that is about 2/3rds of the players (and where I have spent ALL of my time in past contests!!)

That's great, Derricka.  I'm still new to all of this.  I never paid close attention to the stock market before, and I've only been playing here since 5/10/08.  By the end of the first week, I was up almost $2,000 and I thought, hey this is pretty easy.  But I soon found out, easy come easy go.  It took a while for me to get some kind of a game plan going.  Now I feel like I'm earning it.

I know exactly how you feel!!  This is my fourth contest, and the first one that I have been able to stay above $100K!!  I am just finally figuring things out!!  But I have learned a lot from playing WSS and I still have a lot to learn.  That is one reason why I have to set little goals for myself.  Good Luck!!
