Your Stock Prices are Highly inaccurate

I wish you'd give a better estimate of how much you deviate from real time pricing. I was watching MSX on arca and clicked sell at around 42. When your transaction processed, you gave me 40.80. If I had known you were going to give me 40.80 when I clicked sell, I would've hung onto it instead. Its been doing that with my other stocks as well. I'd set limits but I'm afraid then the stock WOULDN'T sell at all.

The prices shown on WSS are time delayed between 15 and 20 minutes.  However, when you make a trade, the price used for the transaction is the real-time price, even though we do not know what it is on WSS.

I'm not using WSS prices. I use real time prices on my scottrade and arca accounts. Yet for some reason, you people tend to give me the almost unheard-of prices within a 5 minute window.

I use msn for real-time quotes, and WSS has usually been pretty accurate with msn.  But there have been a couple of times when I have gotten off the wall prices.  I sent WSS an e-mail gave them the exact time of my transaction and what the price should have been, and they will research the price and most times they have found I have been right.  Only once they said I was not right, and I didn't argue because they usually are really good about making things right.  I am not sure what their source for real-time quotes is, but whatever it is, that is what they use to determine prices.

One of our team members uses real time quotes for real time trading, we have never claimed to give you anything close to real time quotes. There will always be a 15-20 minute delay on your WSS portfolio.

I never said you were giving us real time quotes but it would be nice to know what kind of prices you're giving us before we click the buy/sell button even if we have to look it up ourselves. otherwise day trading in this competition is a giant crapshoot. i don't get why you can't just say exactly 20 minutes...

Agreed!  It would be nice to know what kind of prices you are giving, but I know there were times before I got real time quotes that the price I was given for a trade was way off from the quoted price and I wondered what happened in the 15-20 minutes from the time I made the trade?

Yes, this is one of WSS's bugs that has carried over from previous tourneys. (This is my third).

I recall contacting Support several months ago in regard to this when one day I placed five or six orders and all except one were inaccurate. In fact two of them had not traded at the price WSS gave me, for the entire day. (Go figure).

Still, this is the best game in town, if not in the entire Internet.

P.S. WSS did correct their quoted prices for me.

This has happened to me several times.  Most recently was a couple of short sales I did on MXC.  That day, the price continued downward with little or no upward bleeps.  I was using Scottrade real time when I bought and when I sold...once it was showing on my page, it said I shorted low and covered at almost a dollar higher????  So, I tried again, because MXC was still going down and it did the same thing.  I've actually done better when I didn't look at real time and just bought and sold based on the prices WSS was showng on my dashboard.  Could have been a coincidence though.

i have had that problem with penny stocks . if a stock i bought at say 45 cents a share goes up 2 cents and i want to sell it by the time it goes through that 2 cent profit has sometimes disappeared. that hurts when you have 50,000 shares.

In any case, can you at least allow us to cancel limit orders after a certain period of time? That way I can set the limit to what I see on scottrade and then cancel it if something goes awry...

You should be able to cancel your limit orders under the "trade" tab at the top of each page, should be under "my transactions", if not there, then "my order history".

    WSS Admin:

One of our team members uses real time quotes for real time trading, we have never claimed to give you anything close to real time quotes. There will always be a 15-20 minute delay on your WSS portfolio.

    From the rules:

    5. Order Types and Trade Execution - Market, limit, and stop orders will be accepted. All orders are executed at the real-time bid/ask prices as provided by our data vendor when placed during market hours. Due to exchange rules, the web page will display a delayed price estimate of the price until 15-20 minutes has elapsed. The transaction will automatically appear in the Trader's Portfolio and Transaction History.

To me, that says you give real-time prices for all trades.
