i have not heard this yet . how do you set up a vm? that sounds like a great idea to have one
Two ways:
- Download MS Virtual server or VMware server (This is to make your PC or another machine a host for the virtual machine(s).)
- Create a new VM (This entails setting up a virtual disk which consumes some hard drive space ~10GB)
- Install the OS of your choice (with MS OSs it will cost you a licensed copy to be legal)
You will need to tweak your VM so you don't over power the machine you are running on. i.e. make your host too slow to operate.
Install the softwares of your choice.
Once complete, shutdown the VM, make a copy of the virtual disk and config files to some place safe. (another directory) Set a restore point and then have fun. Once you have had fun, revert back to your restore point and wha la completely new VM again. In the event of catastrophic failure or corruption of the VM, turn it off, delete the files and copy the originals back in, wha la new VM again.
