People who are considering giving up smoking, could help tremendously by not releasing toxins from cigarettes into the environment.

It takes 6.2 quadrillion smokers to equal one tractor trailer driven 50 weeks out of the year to match the same pollutant levels.

    Think bigger. Much, much bigger.

oh, and then there's China, yet...

I recycle everything I can. Here in Fall River we have curbside pickup. Lately I have seen many more recycle bins out by the curbs around here. Seems some people at least, realize the gravity of the situation we're in. Others are just waiting for God. (J/K)

Is that the same one that "scientists" thirty years ago said was going to be the next ice age, because temperatures were dropping?  And then it became global warming because temperatures were rising?  The same global warming that caused Algore to cancel several of his global warming speeches this past winter because the temperatures reached new lows and the snow conditions were too bad?

The eath's temperature has changed long before man came along, and it will change long after we're gone.  It's all about natural cycles.  To think that man has caused, or can stop, cliamte change is ridiculous.

I recycle too.  I think it's good to try to get as much use out of something as we can.  But I think if others don't want to do it, that's OK too.  I don't do it because of "the gravity of the situation we're in."

I'M NOT SURE WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP BUT I DO KNOW I HAVE BEEN RECYCLING AND I BOUGHT A WASHMACHINE THAT USES LESS WATER, A DISHWASHER THAT USES LESS WATER AND ENERGY AND AN AIR CONDITIONER THAT IS SUPPOSED TO USE LESS ENERGY.  I HOPE MY LITTLE PART HELPS BUT I'M NOT SURE IT WILL.

Re: TOGETHER WE CAN SOLVE THE CLIMATE CRISIS

have you heard about our new Great Lake. "Lake Iowa"  Sorry, thats not that funny now that I think of it.

Anyhow, I have for the most part given up debating this issue with naysayers. Suffice to say that based on the information and scientific data I've read, all from official and world wide scientific publications it all points to a dramatic shift in weather pattens and our way of life. Your referance to what scientists were predicting 30 years ago had a alot to do with the Gulf Stream. As a matter of fact we face such unpredictable major changes that one of the things that could happen would result in an Ice Age.

Dr. Robert Gagosian from here in Woods Hole Massachusetts was recently quoted:

Capitol Hill (CNSNews.com) - ""After years of being warned about the threat of global warming and how human activity is worsening the problem, Americans might be surprised to learn that a Massachusetts environmentalist is now warning of a possible coming ice age.

It's not that Dr. Robert Gagosian, president and director of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts, is contradicting the many dire predictions related to global warming. Rather, Gagosian is taking the predictions one step further.

Gagosian believes the melting of the polar ice cap as a result of global warming will increase the amount of fresh water in the normally salty North Atlantic Ocean and could stop the Gulf Stream from carrying heat from the tropics north. This could all lead to the earth plunging into a new ice age, according to Gagosian""

That is one possibility, probably one of the worse. Since we will have alot more to worry about than just being cold, if this were to happen. But, like I said I don't really debate this issue much. The naysayers will come around. I just hope that when we all get on the same page, there will still be time.

    Carpe Diem.!!

I don't doubt that the climate is changing.  I just don't believe it's caused by human activity.
