    sharpe ratio

    does any one pay attention to there sharpe rating ?why is there a -symbol in front of it?

    I don't pay attention to my sharpe ratio unless someone asks about it.  That symbol is a negative sign, your sharpe ratio can be positive or negative depending on the amount of risk in the stocks you are buying.

     sharpe ratios are used in the financial sector to judge a fund manager's skills.  Overall returns are the most important thing, of course, but sharpe ratios factor in as well.  I was pretty proud of mine, it was steadily rising and peaked at about 3.7 last week.
