    Costco outsells others on gasline.

It is front page news here in NY.  It seems that even without a membership card, you can purchase gasoline at Costco for $3.00 a gallon.  That is a far cry from the $3.49 we pay in the suburbs for "regular" gas.  Doesn't it make you wonder how much your gas station is actually making?  (By the way they are in an uproar over "unfair competition".)

You don't have to have a membership card there in NY?

We do here in CA.  I don't have a car, so I can't quote prices all the time, but it was around 3.49 at most stations yesterday.  I didn't check Costco's price, but I have bought gas before there when my son was here and I was using his vehicle.

I never understood just why it is considered "unfair" to make a small profit on a lot of items instead of a big profit on a few ... Wal-Mart was founded on the basis of selling more for less profit per item, and all the business community told Sam Walton that it would never work.

Guess we know now it works.

Also, although Walmart works, the problem is they put themselves in competition w/ the Mom and Pop stores, which eventually go out of business, because they don't have the purchasing power.  It seems once they go into a town, the town dies.

However, wish I had their money lol

I buy at Sam's in Evanston.  3.37 was the last I paid and that is always about a nickel less than around the area except for the Shell that is like 900 bucks a gallon all of the time.  I'm always amazed to see them stay in business.

That's a deal at $3.00/gallon and I can understand why the competetors are feuding. Where I live, Gas is $3.29 /gallon and the only discount is 3 to 5 cents if you have an established card with the gas company.

$3.29 is about what gas is around here too.  I wonder if we will ever see it under $3. again.  It cost $100. to fillup our pickup truck.   Can't believe you need a hundred dollars to fill your tank.

I'd have to guess it's about $4.00 now?

I have a feeling that by next year at this time $4.00 will sound good.

The reason they say gas is so high is 3rd world countries like China are demanding larger amounts of oil for gas and thus the increase in demand is making the price go up.  Why they can not increase the oil is beyond me but why do that when you can become more obscenely rich than you already are.  Wish I sat on some oil or natural gas land instead of clay.
