I am confused by some of the talk about price posting. Some say the price you sell at is the price you get and yet I have sold when I should have been up about $1450.00 and then after the delay it showed I was down about $450.00. How is it to be judged when you think you are up about 3% and then after the post you are actually down about 2%? Anyone who knows I would appreciate some input.
if you are paying for real-time quotes then you can go by the prices posted....or if you are looking at quotes from a site that is using real-time quotes......otherwise the prices you see on the WSS site is delayed and is not the actual price at the time of trade.....
That is a $1900 change in 20 minutes, what stock was that?
Shot, I woke up one morning at 9:50am EDT looked at my portfolio and had lost $70,000 between FRE & FNM so a $1900 change in 20 mins isnt uncommon LOL
I've gotten burned a couple of times too. Not as bad as James, but this is the price we pay without real time trading.
I keep a seperate window open to another site that gives real time quotes and I watch those before I sell or buy.
two stocks that are cheap but roller costing. The one I mentioned is NEON and is around .30 so I got about 60000 of them. Couple of pennies in price change the percent a lot and the profit and loss a lot as well. The other one I was doing that with was URRE, though it wasn't as much a change since I couldn't get as many shares. I was at one moment ranked number 18 out of 13000 something. With one delayed price I went to 10000 something in the ranks. Talk about livid. So goes the game I've noticed. What are some of the other site you can view real time quotes in while you play this game?
If you want to be definate about prices that a stock is bought and sold at use Limit orders
I've tried the limit prices and at times it won't let me cancell them so I can sell it when I want while I am watching it. How do you cancel a limit price? I managed to do it once, or so I think, but I have been having problems since. I've tried just about everything and it just won't let me sell them. Anyone know how to stop limit sells once enacted?
You must first cancel the previous order, the system will only allow one instuction to be active.
Then it will allow you to sell, it would be nice if a manual sell order over-rode the previous pre-set order.
Ask your friendly web master.
Use msn for free real time stock quotes.
LOL. Great example.
