    Nastia Liukin - Ripped off?

Who thinks Nastia Liukin should have won the gold on the uneven bars?  I think if two athletes tie they should both get Gold. What do you think?

I know it stinks but they rules were in place before the event....i think the bigger problem was not so much in the rule...which in my opinion was idiotic and should have been judged differently....however, be that as it may.....the judging itself was not unbias.....there has to be a more clinical way of decided the points systems to be awarded and detracted for gymnastics.....right now it is to easy to have bias interfere with the medals of the game....

i think that Nastia handled it like the pro she is...as did her teammate shawn johnson when it happened to her (bias) in the all around.....

The judge from Greece cost Nastia the gold. The system is the system if all is equal but that judge under scored her performance. Greece has never even had an entry in the gymnastics finals. They have no idea what a good performance is.

I agree with that sentiment, but gymnastics is not something I know much about.

It seems to me in any event Im watching on TV the Chinese are getting btter scores from the judges even if they do not perform as well.... I remeber watching the all around womens finals last week and the announcers were startingto get annoyed withthe scores the Chinese women were getting compared to Nastia and Shawn....

I was surprised to hear a similar commentary about that during the broadcast. Judges should be competent. If your country doesn't have a good _______ program, then how can you judge __________?

Part of the problem is having judges from non-competitive countries. Somehow, I think that Russians, Romanians, American, Chinese, Japanese, etc. might be fairer in scoring, knowing their programs are considered top rate and reputable (ok, maybe not quite on Chinese ages). It seems that the most extreme bias comes from countries that have no viable gymnastics programs, medal-wise.

Not surprising that it was the Greek judge who gave the most deductions to Nastia. Greece has been anti-American since 1948 and it's become almost expected of them by now.

Gold, Silver or bronze. They are all worth millions in endorsements. Fair or not, Nastia and her family will not have any financial worries for a long time. Get over it.

Agreed. Why have judges that aren't competent? It doesn't make any sense...

I heard that Chinese gymnasts weren't even old enough to compete in the Olympics...
