  This 'Letter of Apology' & nbsp;was written by Lieutenant General Chuck Pitman, US Marine Corps,  Retired:
  
  For good and ill, the  Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue. On the one hand,  right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions  while on the other hand, political glee will take control and  fashion this minor event into some modern day  massacre.
  
  I humbly offer my opinion  here:
  
  I am sorry that the last  seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of  our youth; it was in the defense of Muslims ( Bosnia , Kosovo,  Gulf War 1, Kuwait , etc.)
  
  I am sorry that no such  call for an apology upon the extremists came after  9/11.
  
  I am sorry that all of the  murderers on 9/11 were Islamic Arabs.
  
  I am sorry that most Arabs  and Muslims have to live in squalor under sa vage  dictatorships.
  
  I am sorry that their  leaders squander their wealth.
  
  I am sorry that their  governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools,  mosques, and government-controlled media.
  
  I am sorry that Yasser  Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and high-jacked the  Palestinian 'cause.'
  
&nb sp; I am sorry that no other  Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of  financial help to those same Palestinians.
  
  I am sorry that the U. S.  A. has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of  poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the  USA for all their problems.
  
  I am sorry that our own  left wing, our media, and our own brainwashed liberal masses do  not understand any of this (from the misleading vocal elements of  our society li ke radical liberal professors, CNN and the NY  TIMES).
  
  I am sorry the United  Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the 'food for oil'  money so they could get rich while the common folk  suffered.
  
  I am sorry that some Arab  governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their  death
  
  I am sorry that those same  bombers are brainwashed thinking they will receive 72 virgins in   'paradise.'
  
  I am sorry that the  homicide bombers think pregnant women, babies, children, the  elderly and other noncombatant civilians are legitimate  targets.
  
  I am sorry that our troops  die to free more Arabs from the gang rape rooms and the filling of  mass graves of dissidents of their own making.
  
  I am sorry that Muslim  extremists have killed more Arabs than any other  group.
  
  I am sorry that foreign  trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return  it to a terrorist state.
  
  I am sorry we don't drop a  few dozen Daisy cutters on Fallujah.
  
  I am sorry every time  terrorists hide they find a convenient 'Holy  Site.'
  
  I am sorry they didn't  apologize for driving a jet into the World Trade Center that  collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox  Church - one of our Holy Sites.
  
  I am sorry they didn't  apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy  bombings, the murders and beheadings of Nick Berg and Daniel  Pearl, etc....etc!
  
  I am sorry Michael Moore  is American; he could feed a medium sized village in Africa  .
  
   America will get past this  latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is  what we do.
  
  I am sorry the Barack  Hussein Obama may be elected president of the United States when  he doesn't have a clue on how to be a strong Commander-in-chief in  a world filled with Muslim extremists who will do whatever it  needs to do to destroy the lives of civilized people while  killing innocent men, women and children in order to bring a  change that is beneficial to all Islamic terrorists  worldwide.  
  
  I am sorry that voters on  the liberal left don't understand the frightening changes  that are taking place in the Muslim world and what these changes  will do to this world in which we live.
  
  I am sorry that the  Democratic Party has been highjacked by Socialists and Communists  right under the very noses of those who take pride in calling  themselves democrats.
  
  We hang out our dirty  laundry for the entire world to see. We move on. That's one of the  reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all  those Arab countries that are now demanding an  apology.
  
  Deep down inside, when  most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like - so  what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners. Sure, it  was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until  captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're  supposed to wring our hands because a few were  humiliated?
  
  Our compassion is tempered  with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and  burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating  Fallujahans.
  
  If you want an apology  from this American, you're going to have a long wait! You have a  better chance of finding those seventy-two  virgins.

This guy, although he has an impressive title, is still part of the problem and not part of the answer.  If we stoke the American sentiment into hating Muslims, we are no better than the Muslim extremists.  If we start holding such petty things above these peoples heads, looking at them in contempt and withdrawing our helping hand, how can we still call ourselves patriots?  And there is no use crying over spilled milk; president bush started this war and the soldiers are the ones who have to finish it.  Yes, several thousands of US troops have died, but does this compare to the hundreds of thousands of killed, tortured or displaced Iraqis?  Are we so vein and blinded by conciet that we hold American Life over the life of a person from another country/religion.  The democrats are not communists or socialists, and these are outlandish claims.  They merely are in tune with what the common American is shouting to our congressmen and senators; it is time for change, but republicans are so fat off the hog that they would rather sit back and make themselves richer than to help their fellow American.  The democrats merely are looking for a humane way to defuse the situation in the Middle East, without resorting to violence (Why must we be the world police?). Why continue to focus on Iraq, when we have pretty much secured a long and tedious outcome, while Rape is being used as an ethnic clensing tool in Darfur.  Why focus on Iraq, when Mugabe is forcing his people to bow to his dictorial will. Why focus on Iraq, when we are facing a serious oil crisis within the next 50 years (oil, with the current technologies has about fifty years left, and coal will runout in about 100-150 years)?  America has gotten its priorities completed turned around, and the democrats are simply trying to change this fact.

Sorry, but some liberal puke is going to condemn you for writing this and hatings the ragheads. Keep up the good fight.

Many people are unaware of the Truth behind Darfur. We as Amercians ofter support to poor and starving countries around the world. The liberal media has brainwashed our people here at home. Believing that all Us US Soldiers do is destroy and kill, while that is just a small minor part of our Armed forces. America  is the only country to offer extreme support to poverty stricken countries. We offer food, water and a chance to rebuild their Governments and feed their people. When I went to Iraq I had more people come to me with opened arms rather than bombs attached to them. The sad thing is they could have, and i wouldnt know til it was too late. We as Amercian play Defense on the battle field rather than Offense. We play offense when weve taken wounded soldiers or we are clearly ambushed and pushed back to return with a full Offensive attack.

Now the thing with Darfur is Divided between superpowers. The US military has already offered support, Blackwater itself has offered support to save that region. Darfur is out of the US militaries duristiction. China has already occupied Darfur for their own oil wealth. That is why Amercia has its armed tied behind its back. China is an Athiest state whom has no remorse for politcal nor religious persicution. Thats why we cannot save Darfur. And with all these Liberalist whom want to be on the other side of the room from conservatist, and vise versa we need to realise, that the US Soldiers are trained to win wars, Amercia wins wars and by leaving Iraq all that has Actually be accomplished will implode allow Russia, China, Iran to fill in that vacuum. If the US leaves no progression will take placed in the Middle east, It will only defualt to another source of power and control, one that has no agenda for hope. Please America, dont listen to everything you here on the radio and TV.

And another thing to those whom say WAR is wrong, it is. Does it mean that I being a US Soldier am going to hell for fighting for the America that i love. the America that has brought Japan, India, China and other known countries into wealth driven countries. China due to the help of the US has brought million from poverty into the middle class, same with kuwait. With Amercian Wars we have made people rich yes, but we have also made countries upgrade to middle class global citizens. We have fought In the Korean wars, which has turned South Korea into a competitive country to our Silicon valley. People, war is invevitable, and i would rather Amercias positive views not negative rejoice the world. only in america can you practice all relgious faiths from MORMON, JEW, CATHOLIC, BHUDDIST, MUSLIM EVEN WITCH CRAFT ETC... only in america can we complain that yet we have 2 tvs, 4 computers, flushing toilets, phones, 3 cars that we can buy without even having the money. Amercian are spoiled and thats why people hate us. We are SPOILED. They have nothing and we are trying to fight a war to give them what we have, it will just take time. CNN already knows all this stuff, but telling you who got killed this week sells more than the actual truth.  And i agree with Morelli, the soldiers are not trained to be diplomats, although they are starting to integrate some diplomacy and cultural sensitivity into the curriculm.  The soldiers are doing a great job with what has been given them.  And yes, if we pull out of Iraq too early, the power vacuum will quickly be filled by Iran and then the Middle East may well band together with similar Anti-Western sentiments.  If Iran were to become the dominant power in the ME, then there would be no more oil for the west, which means no war machine to compete with the ME.  But to attack their religion like this LTG has is despicable. There are christian extremists right here in the states who terrorize anybody the deem as unholy. We need better understanding between the two regions, not a stronger military occupation.

agreed. i felt that when president amahelajhad or whatever came to the States and gave that speech, it helped alot. that was diplomacy in the works by our people, not the president. all Iran is doing is not backing down, as they shouldnt. Diplomacy works, and as far as christain extremists, wow so true. I hate when they call this war "A CRUSADE."
