I dont even have to read this one and know it's happening, I'm not shock but pissed, it's ok for Gays to pull this **** and it's ok but if our kids pray or pledge allegiance to the flag it's the devil!

BTW I am proud to announce my Daughters school still does pledge of allegiance!!

The videos didn't show anything that threatening. It was  astandard video training teachers to promote tolerance and acceptance of homosexuality. Considering that homosexuality is becoming more visible as society becomes more enlightened to the needs of a marginalize segment of society the video is about teaching kids the basic functions of being part of the environment around them.

The video even shows kids should be allowed to debate if indivdual homosexuals should get married, which I believe in Boston and now California people can have same sex marriages.

The video is no different than the standardization of the educational system which at the primary and secondary levels are not so much about academic achievement but about well adjustment into a socially diverse society so that when these kids are adults they are not limited by prejudices infused by an old homophobic world that loses influence in a changing world.

In fact the website wreaks of homophobia over the interest of protecting children from dangers.

I'd be more pissed out how easy it is to succeed in school because the fundementals are about memorizing the standardized tests over the more complicated fundamentals about teaching someone that tolerance and respect do more to elevate your social standing.

Point Blank: If the schools can get away with teaching children that being gay is ok, then the schools should be allowed to teach religion so the kids can make up their minds about that too!!!

DAMN IT!!! What the hell happened to learning english social studies math writing reading science arts and crafts etc. and let the parents deal with outside school issues???????????? Because a lot of parents in this country just dont give a damn they are allowing the schools to teach our children things that dont belong in school.

    Thanks again ACLU!!!

The ACLU has nothing to do with a deciscion like this. If anything its the PTA who is also responsibile for banning great books like the catcher in the rye and huckleberry finn.  Also the ACLU has defended many rights of religious organizations and individual rights which doesn't get as much media traction because its doesn't trigger interest due to the cultural power structure. For instance the cultural power structure is white anglo saxon protestant with puritan values and patriarchal family dynamic so if the news reported that a WASP won a court case with the help of the ACLU it is boring where as a 'black jew ***' who has undergone female to male surgery and is now in the process of having a baby is surely an eye catching headline.

The sky isn't falling this isn't even an issue, at the end of the day parents are the ultimate role models and influence in a childs life.

Stop taking everything on the radio as more than entertainment. Howard Stern and Joe Scarborough are in the same business.

The only issue with religion in this country from what I can see is that there is no seperate school board system. In Canada the public school system has a paralell board where catholic schools get public funding and parents have a choice between secular and christian religious studies.

For some reason america does have the problem that public money can't be spent to promote religious beliefs but there is a precedent in this country and it must be upheld.  No religion in public schools.

Schools do not brain wash or try to impose homosexuality on anyone, what it teaches is not to hate someone because they choose that life style.

Schools have never tried to impose homosexuality on students, unlike religion that tries to impose some beliefs out of fear.

Religion has been a great teacher over the centuries on how to hate, over 95% of all wars have been fought in the name of some religion.

I for one fear religious zealots more then anything else, the current wars in the middle east proves that.

    Majik13

Bravo! On a point well made.

I can not agree more about religion using fear as leverage to make others adhere as well as hate. It's sad but an all to common occurence. While there are millions of tolerant and good religious people in this world...there are also many who use religion as a tool and that is regrettable.

And again I must acknowledge that last comment.." I for on fear religious zealots more than anything else.."

And I'd like to add to it with this quote...paraphrased but you get the gist...

"An evil man will do evil things. But it takes religion to make an otherwise good man commit an atrocity."

    cheers!

I was taught religion both in school and out.  And no I'm not a religious zealot.  But it did teach children to grow up respecting others, even gays. We do not need to teach specifically about gays in school, only that people are people and we should not judge them because they might be different and that entails any capacity.  And religion is not to be feared unless of course one is on the evil side.  Organized religion can be bad with the wrong leaders but one can be relgious without belonging to any organization.  And unlike what some believe, you do not have to attend a church to be a religious person.

I do believe that if you are going to teach a religion, it should be the history of it and it also should encompass all different regions.  That way the children can make up their own minds what they believe.  In other words, lets teach the truth in our schools and not just a one sided view.

Sorry Jamet, my rantings weren't meant for you but for Magoo and some of the others.  I happen to agree with what you wrote.  Thanks
